8 Ways to Get Best Result for Your Efforts
We often crib that whatever has
turned out is not exactly what we had planned. We blame others, we blame
circumstances, we blame timing; in short, we blame everybody and everything
else other than ourselves. Is it really so; are we not responsible for whatever
has happened to us? Definitely we are the main reason behind our failure. So,
what we should do get the best result for our efforts? I have listed out
following seven reasons, which may help in getting best outcome:
1)
Your
Target Should Be Clear To You: There is a story in Mahabharata, biggest
epic of ancient times of India; Sage Dronacharya was entrusted with the task of
educating ‘Kauravas’ and ‘Pandavas’. Since, they all were princes, combat and
fighting skills were also part of their curriculum. One day, Sage Dronacharya
put a bird made of wood on one branch of tree, fully laden with leafs, and
asked all them to take the target of bird’s eye. He called everybody one by one
and asked them about description of target. Everybody except Arjuna gave
different description like; a tree, a tree laden with leafs, a wooden bird kept
on one branch of the tree etc. Arjuna said that he is seeing only bird’d eye
and nothing else. Dronacharya ordered him to shoot the target with arrow and so
the target was achieved.
Now, how many
of us have clear vision of our target. Often we come up with multiple targets
and we work half-heartedly for all the targets and this is something where the
problem lies. Our resources, our strength, our focus, just everything is
divided and we end up being nowhere.
2)
Be
Realistic: My goal is to be a billionaire by 2020; right now I am a beggar.
So, what I am going to do in these eight years? Am I going to rob banks, sell
drugs or wait to win the multiple jackpots to reach this billion dollar mark.
Have I set the realistic target for myself; definitely not. If I am earning
$10,000 per month and I am planning to take my monthly earning to $ 25000 in
next ten years, then I can do it by switching to more paying job, investing my
savings carefully etc., but if I set a target of earning $10 Million per month,
then it will be quite unrealistic unless and until my luck turns wheel of
fortune in my favour.
3)
Be
Specific: I want to go to USA for my vacations. Is USA a small city, where
I will go for vacation? USA is one big country with many states. So, if I am
planning to go to USA for vacation, then I will have to be very specific about
the locations where I am planning to visit.
4)
Prepare a
roadmap: If you don’t have the roadmap to reach your target, then you are
bound to get lost somewhere in middle of the road. So, prepare a roadmap and
then start your journey.
5)
There is
no prize for ‘trying’: ‘Trying’ means ‘not putting your best of effort’.
‘Trying’ also means being ‘being difficult’. So, what exactly you are doing out
of the two to achieve your target? Don’t ‘try’, just ‘do it’; and it is the
third and best option.
6)
‘Commit’
and ‘Go’: If you don’t ‘commit’ and ‘go’, then, you are bound and come back
without reaching your target. Often, any journey is not a smooth one, but a
roller-coaster ride, and if you have not committed to the cause, then you are
bound to stop, when you start climbing the uphill.
7) Use past experiences for feedback: We
switch to new role and responsibilities because old one was not better in
comparison. It may or may not be the case, but you must have learned something
from your past experiences. Use your past experiences as feedback and use it in
new project for better results.
8) Break Old Habits and Get New One: If
you are following the old habit and then you are bound to get the old results
only. If you are following old habits, it means you are scared to leave your
comfort zone and move to new territory. How can you expect new results with old
tricks; just think over it.
