Four Weird Reason Why I am waiting for New Blackberry 10 OS Enabled Samrtphones

Experts have been busy writing RIP messages for RIM, while team RIM were busy preparing their safety vehicle Blackberry 10. And honestly speaking, I was eagerly waiting for it as well. I was eagerly waiting for latest Blackberry smartphone which was once leader in this category. One of my mobile phones since last eight year has been Blackberry, other one being any other brand like Samsung, NOKIA or Motorola. I am self confessed Blackberry fan. BlackBerry unveiled two phones with the new BlackBerry 10 system. The Q10 will have a physical keyboard, while the Z10 has only a touch-screen keyboard. I was not waiting only for these following reasons:
1) The Z10 which has a 4.2-inch screen (1,280 x 768 display).
2) 130 millimeters (5.1 inches) length and weight of 137 grams (4.8 ounces) for Z10. Blackberry Q 10 has a squarish screen measuring 3.1 inches (7.8 centimeters) diagonally.
3) 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 dual-core CPU with 2GB of RAM.
4) 16 gigabytes of storage, plus a memory-card slot for expansion up to 32 GB.
5) 8-megapixel camera which is capable of taking videos of 1080p located on the top-left corner of the back and paired with a LED flash and front camera of 2-megapixel camera which is capable of recording videos of 720p.
6) Multilanguage support so that users can flick words with one thumb. Also improved are the picture editor, and a multitude of other features that positions the device both as a consumer device and an enterprise device simultaneously.
7) The glass is designed exclusively for Z10, it is supposedly thinner but stronger than plastic.
8) The device aggregates information intuitively; it recognises and pulls up all the connections into the contacts, like the last email, last meeting, last Twitter post.
9) 10 hours talking time and 13 days on standby. Another feature is a mini-HDMI port to allow connections to a television or projector.
10) And the Blackberry 10 message hub, where all the apps like Facebook have been completely integrated to show all the messages, notes, appointments etc. at one place.
11) Though Blackberry App World does not flaunt numbers like Android or iOS but it has more than 70,000 apps.
My reasons behind waiting for Blackberry 10 empowered smartphones are completely weird, but they exist and I am proud that they exist.
1)      It was the phone which gave me the self assumed high status in the organization, where Blackberry was meant only for employees having minimum designation of AVP and a chamber in one corner of the office. Among my colleagues, I was the envied one, carrying best mobile phone in the country. We Indians are still bit traditional at heart, and Blackberry brought the tradition of smartphones in the country. That’s why, it is one of the main players in smartphone category in India. It taught me marketing lesson that in country like India, where tradition matters, it matters and you should not ignore it.
2)      Blackberry was the first gadget, which held my hand and introduced me to the world of smart gadgets.  I was amazed at the fact that I could do more than just talking with this phone. It introduced me to various apps, which made me better informed, kept me better organized and ahead of my colleagues. It became my companion while travelling from Pune to Mumbai or travelling in Mumbai sub-urban trains. Though other Mobile OS like Android and iOS flaunts more than million apps, what to do with millions, when I don’t have million days in my life. I would go for the apps, which are sufficing my requirements. It taught me another marketing lesson that focus on what is useful and what you can maintain for a longer term and not on abundance which you can’t manage. It may create havoc sometime.
3)      I own Samsung Galaxy S III along with Blackberry Bold 4, and I like the SIII as well, but it’s sleekness and beauty makes it look so girly. It makes me feel like I am wearing an ornament. Blackberry for me all man thing; it is like a hi-tech device in my hand. Another marketing lesson it has for me that though stereotypes can be challenged but stereotypes exist and you can’t ignore it.
4)      Blackberry made smartphones popular, it means they have the capability. Only thing they missed at, is the pulse of changing consumer behaviour. But one thing peculiar and permanent with changing consumer behaviour is the ‘changing behaviour’ itself. So what if they missed the ‘touch therapy’, ‘finger exercise’ may also stage a comeback; you never know. And when you have the capability, you can catch the missed bus or make a new bus for yourself and ride on it. We used to have heavy and big mobile phone like a radio in early days, now we are back with same 5 and 6 inch screen mobile phone; yes, more powerful one. But as far as size is concerned, big is back. Remember, ‘Poincare Conjecture’; this earth comes back to the point from where it starts, and so is life. Nothing is permanent; so don’t say that RIM is dead, someday you may start writing same thing for others as well. I knew that they will make comeback with features which will be at par with the best, if not the best and ‘bingo’, here they are with Blackberry Z 10 and Q 10. They kept working hard and kept coming out with the smartphones. It has the strategy lesson for me that tough time is part of personal as well as professional life, you have to keep focus on your goal and keep working hard. Success is random and it will follow in proportion of your efforts, so, keep multiplying your efforts.
