Distributive Education System: The Game Changer In School Education
We as a world are habituated of
structured hierarchical education system and that’s how we earn our
certificates and degrees. When education has to be at the humongous level for
this kind of population, there has to be a structured format and
standardization. But at the same time, every individual is different in terms
of attitude, aptitude and cognition level. So, ‘one shoe fit all’ is bound to
not yield best of results for the people. It gave birth of more open and distributive
kind of education system and according to its behavior, it is known as
‘Distributive Education System’. As this issue of burgeoning population may
look like as a problem, it also serves as huge resource and potential for a
country and who can understand this thing better than we Indians. I won’t delve
in its detail; otherwise it will put me off track from the main issue.
Coming back to the distributive
system of education, which was looked down upon some twenty year back, has
gained huge importance. As the population increased, this structured system
found severally lacking in accommodating all. Moreover, pressure to churn out
numbers in terms of qualified people made a huge dent in the quality of
education they are getting. Here came open and distributive education system supported
by immense potential of internet, to rescue, which earlier was designed to
train and educate people, who somehow missed to get the higher level of formal
education, and is now providing all kind of courses on ‘N’ number of topics
with superlative contents created by top educational institutions of the world.
Now, one can find ‘Harvard’, ‘Stanford’, ‘Virginia’, ‘Northwestern’, ‘IIT’,
‘IIM’ and many more alike top institutes associated with one platform or other,
educating people according to their own convenience. With high quality content,
flexibility of timing, peer -to -peer interaction from people from different
city, nation or even continent through forums, video chats and hangouts, exposes
learner to never before experience and enhances his/her skills comparable to
what he/she could have attained in hierarchical system in any top institute and
for others, it can easily surpass what they have or can think of having.
As I have mentioned that earlier,
it was being used as a tool of adult education, but penetration of internet and
its use of completing the school assignments, smart devices like smart phones
and tablets and quality of study material available in the market has made way
for distributive system in school education as well. Most of the parents still
depend upon private tutors and extra classes in schools to make their ward
ready for the criminal level of marks required to get the higher education.
Some people succeed, but many fail, because, this structured hierarchical
system of education has not only produced mediocre students but mediocre
teachers as well. Along with that, the aptitude and attitude of students also
comes to play a significant role. But
now, many players have entered into this arena for providing better education
to the young ones. It makes business sense also because private education in
India is pegged to reach somewhere around USD 76 billion in next two years and
K12 constitutes a significant part. One such organization is Pan IIT Alumni
Association, which may ring alarm bell in every parent’s mind, who wants their
ward to study science and math. IITs have been associated with education
platforms like Hughes and NIIT Imperia, EDX for providing courses on the topic
of engineering and management. Pan IIT Alumni Association, the group of IIT
alumnus, have come out with great idea of inculcating the culture of science
and math to students from Class VI to Class X though ‘Mentoring Million Mind’ and
can be reached at www.teammentors.in along with their parent website. It is easy
to use, very affordable and can be monitored through mobile application by
parents. No strategy is successful unless it is either copied by others or
tried to be copied by others. So, many more people will follow suit and will
make it the case of ‘more the merrier’. It will only keep enriching the
contents and enriching the present system and process. It is surely a game changer for school education
and make it more scientific and productive.
